About the Show & Creators
Expressing Motherhood
The idea for “Expressing Motherhood” came about in January 2008. Lindsay Kavet & Jessica Cribbs found themselves wanting to tap into their former creative sides pre-baby.
This need along with some feelings of isolation of being moms, led them to wanting to just hear stories from fellow moms regarding motherhood. Having never produced for theatre before the two figured they had also never been responsible for a babies life, they were getting by fairly well regarding that, so why not put on a show.
The show consists of roughly 13 moms. The cast changes every time a new show goes up. The show aims to represent all women and their experiences regarding motherhood. Pieces are funny, moving, frightening, sad, you name it.
There is an open submission process a few months before a planned show. Moms interested need not have any acting experience. Kavet and Cribbs are just looking for honesty and a willingness to get on stage and express themselves and ultimately, hopefully, feel fulfilled by the experience.
The show has been selling out to audiences in Los Angeles and New York City for two years. The women are taking the show to Boston for the first time in the Fall of 2010.
This play looks GREAT. Go!
